En partenariat avec le port du cap d'Ail, nous avons réalisé différent stands : sur le petit marché du Cap d'Ail, devant la capitainerie, au club de voile, et sur la promenade de la plage.

Nous avons tenu un stand toute la matinée sur le marché de Mandelieu-la-Napoule.

Stand dans les locaux de Mistral Marine, à Bormes-les-Mimosas

Bormes-les-Mimosas

Nous avons installé notre stand dans les locaux de Mistral Marine, loueur de bateau. Après 2 h de sensibilisation, nous avons enchainé sur un moment convivial avec un apéritif à base de tapenade !

Nous avons tenu un stand sur le quai d'embarquement de l'île de Porquerolles. Nous avons rencontré beaucoup de monde, souvent pressés de prendre la navette... Un vrai challenge un jour de canicule ! De belles rencontres avec des familles, et même une colonie de vacances !

Nous avons tenu un stand devant la capitainerie de Macinaggio en fin de journée et sensibilisé les plaisanciers, locaux et touristes de passage. C'était le dernier port de Corse avant le grand retour vers le continent ! Merci au port pour son accueil.

Evènement à la poste de Erbalonga

A l'occasion de l'inauguration d'un timbre poste sur l'archéologie sous-marine, nous avons tenu un stand toute la journée sur la place devant la poste du petit village de Erbalonga. Nous étions en compagnie de l'association corse Mare Vivu. Nous avons ainsi pu échanger avec Pierre-Ange, Emma et Léa, qui nous ont montré leur stand et parlé de leur expérience de la pollution plastique en Corse. Un échange très intéressant !

Stand à la capitainerie de Porto-Vecchio

Nous avons tenu un stand en fin de journée devant la capitainerie de Porto Vecchio. Nous étions accompagnés de Olivier Sanna, de la société de dépollution MareCorsica. Il détient un petit bateau équipé pour ramasser les déchets, filtrer les microplastiques et fixer les hydrocarbures. Il a pu en faire la démonstration aux passants venus sur notre stand.

Stand à la capitainerie de Bonifacio

Nous avons tenu un stand toute la journée devant la capitainerie de Bonifacio. Beaucoup d'échanges très intéressant, avec des touristes français mais pas seulement : nous avons rencontré des belges, des allemands, des italiens, des canadiens, des américains ! Le jeu du tri était de sortie, ainsi que les flyers zéro-déchets. L'occasion d'échanger sur nos modes de consommation.

Sensibilisation à l'école primaire de Bonifacio

Nous sommes intervenu auprès de 4 classes de CM1 et CM2 de l'école primaire de Bonifacio, juste avant le départ en grandes vacances ! Une des classes gérait  une AME  et notre intervention tombait à merveille pour terminer l'année ! C'était aussi l'occasion de distribuer les derniers cahiers de Fabrice de l'expédition, puisqu'il s'agissait de notre toute dernière intervention en classe pour cette expédition.

Sensibilisation sur la plage de Castelsardo avec le Bulli surfclub

Castelsardo, Sardaigne

En partenariat avec la mairie et le club de surf local également membre de l'association Plastic free, nous avons sensibilisé une vingtaines de jeunes entre 16 et 19 ans à la pollution microplastique. Nous leur avons parlé de notre expédition, montré notre matériel, puis tous ensemble nous avons improvisé un ramassage de microplastiques sur cette plage qui en était remplie ! Des pellets par milliers, provenant d'une ancienne usine de plastiques un peu plus loin sur la côte... Puis nous avons hissé sur la plage le drapeau bleu symbolique en compagnie de l'adjoint au maire, des sauveteurs en mer et du club de surf.

Stand de sensibilisation à Ajaccio

Nous avons tenu un stand en fin d'après-midi devant la capitainerie du port d'Ajaccio afin de sensibiliser les plaisanciers et les passants à la pollution microplastique. Nous avons pu montrer un de nos échantillons prélevé, et joué avec les enfants au jeu écosys !

Intervention with CM1/CM2 of the Forcioli Conti school

We visited a CM1/CM2 class and a CM2 class from the Forcioli Conti school in Ajaccio. On the program: educational games for 45 minutes in small groups of 6. For the first time, in addition to the fresco of plastic and the plastic odyssey, we released the Ecosys game. The children were able to build their ecosystem by placing species while countering the threat cards! A good opportunity to discover the fauna and flora of the Mediterranean!

Stand on the port of Calvi

From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., we held a stand to raise awareness of microplastic pollution with tourists and boaters in the port of Calvi. Very interesting exchanges, in particular with a researcher from Stareso, the marine research station based in Calvi, or a member of the neighboring diving club.

Raising awareness of a fifth grade class with the Mare Vivu association

We joined Pierre-Ange, Emma and Léa from the Corsican association Mare Vivu which was raising awareness among a 5th grade class in Bastia. On the program for the day: collection of waste and characterization of the sea line, koh lanta, quiz and topo on Posidonia. On our side, we told them about our project, we showed them our nets followed by an ocean fresco workshop. 

Mare Vivu is a Corsican association of eco-volunteering, specialized in the fight against plastic pollution in the Mediterranean, and committed to low-tech research, local recycling experiments and the promotion of zero waste. In particular, each year it organizes the Corseacare mission, a one-month tour of Corsica in a trimaran to collect waste on the beaches.

Raising awareness at the Paul Langevin school

We visited Valérie Col-Muffat's class and her 24 CM2 students. The class manages an AME (educational marine area) located in Anse Magaud and the children are therefore very aware of the protection of the coasts! They were delighted with our intervention and to receive Fabrice's notebooks. A big thank you to the teacher for her welcome and her involvement in the environmental education of her students.

Awareness week in Gruissan

During our 5 days of stopover in the port of Gruissan, the town hall had concocted a great program of events, varied and raising awareness of all audiences: class visits, stand on the market and at the harbor master's office, cinema-debate, and conference. A big thank you to the town hall and the port of Gruissan for all the organization and their support for our project!

We held a stand all morning on the Gruissan market alongside EffetMer, a brand of plastic glasses recycled from wild waste, and Rescue Ocean, an association for the protection of the oceans and which organizes waste collections. Great inspiring and motivating encounters!

  • Stand in front of the harbor master's office

We spent the whole day in the “Cabanatroc”, a trailer built and decorated by young people from the MJC (youth center) in Gruissan. In front of the harbor master's office, visitors follow one another: the opportunity to show our boat in real life and to talk about our actions in a concrete way.

  • Lectures for schools and the general public

We held two conferences in the Maison de la Méditerranée, which was made available to us. The first was for 60 5th grade students from the Gruissan college. We were able to show them our nets, and the presentation ended with a quiz. Then, at the end of the afternoon, we held a conference for the general public, in the company of EffetMer. The elected officials of the town hall of Gruissan were present. We ended the day with a convivial aperitif on the boat!

For a whole day, we educated 7 classes from different establishments in Agde: the F. Bazille school, the Victor Hugo school and the Jules Ferry school, from CP to CE2. A busy day and a real marathon to organise! A big thank you to the nautical center for having lent us the room!

Raising awareness of a 5th grade class with Léna, from the Camargue Regional Natural Park

Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhone

We organized a joint awareness campaign with Léna Collet, eco-guard at the Camargue Regional Nature Park for a 5th grade class at Robespierre College in Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône. While Léna made the children aware of the characterization of a sea line, we told them about our scientific experiments and our project, the food chain and plastic pollution using a game taken from the ocean fresco. . A great meeting with Léna who also told us about her job as an ecoguard in the park.

Raising awareness in the Marine Educational Area of a CM2 class

With the boat, we went to the Marine Educational Area (AME) managed by the CM2s of the Accoules school and their mistress, Cécile Barbarin, in partnership with the Calanques National Park. We carried out a sampling with a closing net in front of the beach, while the whole class watched us from the rocks. Then we went to meet them on the beach, and it was an opportunity for a great mutual exchange: presentation of our project and microplastic pollution, while the children told us about the fauna and flora of Friuli and the management of their AME. We were for the excursion accompanied by Téo, an intern at the Calanques National Park. A very nice meeting!

Sensitization all day at the French school in Barcelona. On the program: 3 classes of CM2, a class of CE1, 2 classes of CM1, a class of 4th and a class of CE2. The students were very interested and motivated! We were interviewed by the CE2 class who did a little radio show about us! (to listen to it, click here ) The school newspaper also did an article. Turtle release with the Oceanogràfic de Valencia Foundation

Three sea turtles were released on the beach in Valence with veterinary teams and volunteers from the foundation. The Oceanogràfic foundation recovers injured turtles and treats them before returning them to their natural habitat. Many thanks to Pepa Ferrando and Alicia Borque for this magical event!

- ARGONAUTICA -

At this time the team left Cagliari and therefore carried out its conference on the open sea by telephone. The college students were able to watch the presentation film of the expedition then Julie, Frédéric and Quiterie made a quick presentation and then the public was able to ask questions. It was a very windy day, so the team took refuge in the cockpit to get out of the wind to carry out their presentation.

The four SEA Plastics 2019 team members traveled to Genoa to participate in the SEA YOU event. They carried out an intervention aimed at raising awareness among future boat buyers. can be put in place on board in order to limit plastic pollution on board and harmful discharges into the sea.

The team was also able to learn about ecoutant  the interventions of naval architects, builders of energy-efficient yachts and other actors for a more respectful yachting the environment.

- BEYOND PLASTIC MED -

SEA Plastics 2019 was one of the winners of  Beyond Plastic Med - BeMed . These two days allowed Frédéric, Julie and Quiterie to meet many actors in the fight against plastic pollution from all around the Mediterranean. Thus, the team was able to dialogue with leaders of other exciting initiatives. It was also an opportunity to meet the IUCN, Surfrider, Tara Expedition and BeMed which are pillars in the fight against plastic pollution.

HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco was also present at this event. The team took the opportunity to invite him to visit the boat... which he kindly accepted! SEA Plastics 2019 therefore had the honor to have him on board to explain their project to them. They had the chance to discuss various subjects with him and to benefit from the richness of this meeting around a drink in the boat.

The project was selected mainly for the awareness campaign which will take place in June and July on the French coast. With a professional, a documentary will also be produced, focusing on plastic pollution.

A big thank you to the entire organizing team and to all the other winners for these times of sharing.

– Three generations of SEA Plastics –

The 2017 and 2018 teams were present at the  Agroparistech Sustainable Projects Evening   to represent SEA Plastic. It was an opportunity for the association to introduce itself to former graduates of the school, to discover the other projects, as well as to give an overview of its evolution for those who have followed the association since its creation, there are 3 years now. The 2019 team made a film from Monaco to explain their expedition.

These generations continue to increase since the 2020 team is already formed to take up the torch. The adventure goes on !

The 2019 team is adorned with its most beautiful marinières for its departure party. The whole team was present, Frédéric, Julie, Quiterie and Perrine. A family event rich in encounters thanks to the boaters who came, intrigued by this flocked boat present for 7 months in Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône. 


A beautiful evening which gives us courage to hoist the sails during our first stop: Monaco!

SEA Plastics 2019 at the Agricultural Show

Quiterie and Frédéric presented the SEA Plastics 2019 project at the International Agricultural Show. The AgroParisTech stand welcomed them  in order to promote the association and the project at the show. 
The environment and agriculture are closely linked and the problem of plastic is also topical in the fields.

In 2018, the crew organized a return party from the expedition at the Aquarium de Paris. On occasion, the doors of the aquarium were open to visitors  many came: 350 people were able to discover during the visit to the aquarium a film retracing the adventures of the 2018 expedition, and photos of the crew in action! This visit was completed by a conference-debate presented by the 2018 crew: Lucie, Marine, Sarah, Florian and Marie, who presented the missions of Sea Plastics, a review of their experience and the results obtained, and the prospects for the association for the year 2019.

The port of Carnon celebrates the Sea

While the boaters of Carnon and their boats dressed up  for the Fête de la Mer, we were waiting for them at the lunch break to share our experience with them and discuss together the solutions to be put in place to protect our oceans.

Meeting boaters and hikers in the creeks of Cassis

We had the opportunity to hold a discovery stand on plastic pollution and its impacts at the entrance to the Calanques de Cassis National Park.

With 20,000 visitors per day in summer, it was not easy for the crew! But it was above all an opportunity for us to spread the message as much as possible, to a public in direct contact with the marine environment.

The ports of the Rade de Toulon turn blue

The Rade de Toulon CCI brings together 3 ports: Toulon, Saint-Mandrier and La Seyne-sur-Mer. At the end of the school year, the ports have invited local school children to an event specially dedicated to them: the Rade Bleue de Toulon. We were able to carry out workshops there to discover plastic pollution in the marine environment for more than 150 students, from kindergarten to CM1.

They were motivated as never before, perhaps by the approach of the holidays? In any case, it was a great pleasure for us to share this with them!

The Société Nautique de Bandol generously welcomed us to its premises for the end-of-year youth regatta. The opportunity for us to have them carry out workshops on marine food chains and the impact of microplastics at each link in it!

We took the opportunity to meet another of our partners: the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, which has supported us since the creation of the association in 2017. Without forgetting to visit this beautiful aquarium!

We were able to meet young and old alike on this stand, an enriching day!

As a bonus, we had the honor of a visit from Nicole Lançon from the Soroptimist club in Menton, an NGO that has been supporting us since the 2018 expedition was set up. Thanks to her!

8 groups of CM1/CM2 students attended our activities to discover pollution and marine food chains.

This beautiful day was completed by other activities around the protection of the marine environment, offered by Les Petits Débrouillards or Souffleurs d'Ecume for example.


It was a pleasure to meet these great associations that are worth the detour and all these motivated students!

Port Canto in Cannes celebrates the Environment

We were lucky enough to be invited to Cannes for the Port Canto environmental festival.

A busy program awaited us:

  • Sunday June 3: stand for the general public with cocktail ;

  • Monday June 4: participation in a round table on the theme of marine litter, along with other organizations interested in these issues

We had the pleasure of meeting other associations, attending the inauguration of a jellyfishbot, and even meeting the Mayor of Cannes, who did not fail to congratulate us!

 

It was not easy, but in return, what great encounters and discoveries of other great projects!

Discovery stand in Saint-Raphaël

During our stopover in Saint-Raphael, we had a stand in the port of Santa Lucia where we had the pleasure of meeting passers-by and yachtsmen from the port. This stand was an opportunity to discover our actions, the impact of plastic pollution on living things and the ways to remedy it on its own scale.

On the occasion of the visit of the Tino Rossi port of Ajaccio, the voluntary pupils of the elementary school came to visit us. We led a workshop on everyday plastic waste and its impact on marine biodiversity.

We were surprised to see that the children knew a lot about marine pollution and were very interested, thanks to them and the teaching team!

Stopover for young and old in Bonifacio

  • Stand and conference at the harbor master's office

On Tuesday May 22, we went to Bonifacio to hold a stand to raise awareness of plastic pollution, followed by a conference-debate. to discuss with them the ecological practices to adopt on a boat, and to inform about the impact of plastic on marine ecosystems.

  • Elementary school intervention

On Wednesday 23, we went to meet the CM1 class from the city's elementary school to do a workshop on everyday plastic waste and its impact on biodiversity. We thank the teaching team for allowing us to raise awareness among the students, and the students for their calm and interest!

Three days in Port-Saint-Louis-du- Rhône

  • 10th Camargue Festival

It is with great joy that we participated in the 10th Camargue Festival in Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône! We hosted a stand on the festival site on Friday May 11, with workshops for young and old. We were able to present our actions and answer the most curious questions!

  • Conference at the city's captaincy

We would like to thank all the port staff, the boaters present at the conference, as well as the elected officials of the city of Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône, for their welcome si warm and friendly !

  • Intervention at Henry Leroy high school

On Monday 14, we were invited to speak at the Henry Leroy high school for a conference, followed by the screening of the film "La Pollution Invisible". 

The classes present (two classes of 3rd and two classes of 2dne)  had already taken part in depollution actions on the city's beaches.

300 people were present this evening at the Aquarium de Paris to attend our return conference!

We were able to share with them our scientific research as well as the highlights experienced during the work and on the boat. This was the first major screening of the film "La Pollution Invisible" which will then be shown for 6 months at the Aquarium.

We were also able to discuss in smaller groups around a friendly aperitif with all the donors, without whom Sea Plastics could not have been possible!
