~ Land in sight! First stopover in Ribadeo ~
03/29
Decidedly, the weather is not with us. We are stuck for a few more days in Ribadeo where the repairs are progressing well. Marine goes back and forth in the trunk to try to find the origin of the diesel leak and Flo gives the instructions. After a good part of the afternoon bent over backwards, Marine comes out all smeared from the rear trunk with a huge smile. That's it, it's fixed.
30/03 - 31/03
The last days of stopover in Ribadéo are devoted to the construction of a home made safety pole and the last small works (porthole sealing which has the annoying tendency to leak on our covers, etc.). The pole, we owe it to our teammate Christophe, the goal is to make a floating pole visible from afar that contains all the survival equipment in the event of a fall overboard.
04/01
Departure from Ribadeo and first day of navigation for four. It's 6 am, far too early to put on our sunglasses and hide our somewhat sad eyes at leaving our team members in the Gulf, Christophe and Agnès, who are returning to France. Anyway, we don't have time to linger, we turn on the engine, we cast off, we remove the parebats and off we go. We take turns at the bar and we make coffee again because in the northwest of Spain, at this time of year, it's about as hot as in a fridge.
The downwind announced by the weather forecast took a while to pick up and it was not until around 9.30 am that Le Labo laboriously exceeded 3 knots. But even if we don't replay "Fast and furious" with our lab, we advance towards our destination, accompanied by the dives of gannets, a chilly sun and even a group of bottlenose dolphins, it's the perfect opportunity to put our cetacean protocols into practice !
We arrive at the port of Viviero around 9:30 p.m., even if we are not equipped with a light spot along the hull like the neighboring catamaran, we are happy to eat under the stars, and proud of our first sail together.
03/27
Land in sight on the morning of the fourth day at sea! And all this under a radiant sun which dried our watch jackets, morale and the weather remained fine. Even a little too good, the wind weakened and we broke records for slowness. But for once, everyone is on deck and enjoying a real meal. We are moving so slowly that it is depressing, so we change course towards Ribadeo. We therefore abandon, willy-nilly, the passage of Corunna that we reserve for future adventures!
