Pêle mixes the memories of Viveiro, it gives narrow cobbled roads that lead to massive Romanesque churches. At the bend of an alley where the sun hardly passes (when it is present!), you can see lots of saints and virgins. Around, full of hills planted with eucalyptus. On April 5, the sun finally shines. After work, we go for a hike, towards the hill above Viveiro and the watchtower. We have a superb view of the entire coast, and even more, where the sea meets the horizon. Can't wait for us to take to the open sea again!

02/04 - 05/04

~ Viveiro, second Galician stopover ~

04/08

Saturday, Nathalie, our teammate to help us for the long night shifts until Lisbon arrived. We've finished the refueling races, the water tank is full, and the lab is all clean. There is a little ray of sunshine and we take the opportunity to walk along the Ria de Viveiro. Quite quickly on the way, we want to have a snack. Picnic with chorizo, queso de Viveiro, marinated garlic, arugula, all zero waste. We all end up in t-shirts and we even take on a few colors! Morale in good shape therefore after this little hike. Everyone is eager to leave and get back to sea.

04/06

For the moment it is not yet warm enough to wash in the cold water of the boat, so we are looking forward to the showers at the port. It's always the same routine : everyone takes their cloth bag, their towel, their personal belongings, and we share our Aleppo soap and shampoo, (except for Flo, who has his own personal little solid shampoo, the showers for men and women being separate). Hot water, the smell of lavender, a real treat !

Note on zero waste on board

Hair Shampoo de Sea Reins

  • 40g sodium cocoyl isethionate

  • 10 to 20 g of water

  • 30g shikakai powder

  • 10g of honey

  • 20g nigella oil

  • A few drops of fine lavender essential oil

Put all the ingredients except the essential oils in a bain-marie. When everything is melted, mix well then remove from the heat. Put in a mould. Add the drops of essential oil when the mixture has cooled down a bit, mix again. Leave to set in the freezer for at least an hour. Dream hair for you !

Note on zero waste on board

For gourmet sailors

At sea, it's not easy to cook when there's more than 4 m of swell, but conversely, it's not easy to hold the helm when you have nothing in your stomach! So before setting off again, we thought about buying some snacks. In particular a 2 kg Spanish cured ham. It seemed substantial to us when we took it, but at the speed it is going down, we should have thought of something bigger!
